  • Abc. Diemme Boot

    These Opalized hiking boots are the product of a true collaboration. Each pair, made in the mountains of Italy, requires an immense amount of manufacturing skill. The boots are comprised of a rough furry suede upper, pebbled leather collar, custom hardware, signature pull-tabs and authenticity hologram on the heel which altogether gives these a durable and simultaneously luxurious feel. The custom printed opal gems feature a custom made transparent holographic overlay which allows for them to appear as if they are real jelly opals. It’s an illusion you need to see in person. This process can also be found on the footbed insert where a cracked earth graphic reveals more jelly opal. It’s the idea of being fully grounded even with shoes on. We then sewed the holographic material on top of the insole, and then put cobranding on top of that. Conceptually the earth tones make it appear as though the opals are embedded in their natural rock habitat. Pre-mined gems. Another aspect is the color inspiration from a classic pair of Timberlands. We enjoyed the balance of this juxtaposition for creating something uniquely new.

    It represents a harmonious blend of physical exploration and spiritual introspection. In this narrative, the mountain as metaphor is represented by the mythical Mt. Shasta, a place teeming with mystical lore and ancient legends. It is believed that Mt. Shasta harbors the spiritual energy of the Lemurians and the powerful crystals that sustain their hidden civilization.

    Stylistically, this capsule collection merges the essence of Spring/Summer ‘24’s “Critical Thinking 2.” It is a confluence of Vintage Ivy League aesthetics, 60’s California mountaineering spirit, cultural nuances, and exploration. The collection captures transitional life phases and the critical thought processes during times of profound uncertainty…something we feel is relevant right now.

    *Eternal Youth 2* taps into the universal longing for something eternal, something that resists the transience of time and experience.
    We’re offering a personal reflective commentary on the human fascination with youth, the stark contrast yet fine line between life and death, and our attempts to find meaning in the face of life’s vast unpredictability.
    Drawing on the sociological currents that shape our desire for permanence in our world that is constantly in flux, our collection evokes a kind of nostalgia that transcends mere age—an existential yearning for a time when life seemed simpler, when the future felt limitless and untouched by the inevitable passage of time.
    It captures the essence of a feeling—one that blends melancholy with a quiet defiance of impermanence.
     
    At the core of *Eternal Youth 2* lies the notion that, as a society, we obsess over the illusion of youth as a way to sidestep the deeper, more unsettling realities of existence. We cling to the vibrancy and energy of youth, not because we believe it can be reclaimed, but because it represents a fleeting moment where time felt abstractly forever. Much like the playful, irreverent spirit found in the universe’s grand indifference, *Eternal Youth 2* suggests that our longing for youth is less about avoiding age and more about our futile attempts to defy the randomness of life itself.
    Through this lense, *Eternal Youth 2* doesn’t glorify youth so much as it critiques the human tendency to grasp at it in the hope of finding certainty. We chose to insert playful designs and nostalgic textures as a way to pay both a homage and a gentle reminder that life, in all its absurdity, offers no real guarantees. The irony of it all. The fabric of society itself is woven with a deep desire to make sense of our journey—yet in the end, we are but travelers moving through the chaos, finding some beauty and possibly some meaning wherever we can.
     
    Eternal Youth, quite literally, is the idea of being physically immortal and free from aging. It’s an ethereal concept that’s often featured in mythology and fiction.
    *Eternal Youth 2* reflects a gentle yet probing inquiry into our obsession with youth. We considered why we cling so fervently to moments we can never hold onto, and what that reveals about our deeper anxieties around meaning and existence.
    The collection, similar to life itself, is at once whimsical and profound, yearning to capture the human experience in all its intricate contradictions: our desire to create permanence in a universe that insists on the transient.

    ‘Critical Thinking 2’ is an expansion upon an abstract look at “today”. Elaborating on the initial “critical thinking” t-shirt capsule we did in 2020, continued themes, ideologies, recommendations, etc. such as herd mentality, Voltaire’s garden, and individuality; amongst other psychological and cultural narratives are explored.

    Are we commenting on what you think we’re commenting on? That’s for you to decide. The current viewer of the ‘work’ defines the meaning according to what they need from it. It continues with each subsequent viewer. You see it on our page, someone sees it on you when you’re wearing it and so on. We add context, meaning, and guidance but ultimately the true meaning is amorphous and dynamic.

    Core context finds the ‘student’ in search of purpose who embarks on a spiritual trip, similar to the Beatles or Steve Jobs trip to India in search of “enlightenment.”  This search extends to the capsule collection “The Sacred Mountain 2” which is the physical place we are called to for exploration. This capsule, including done a collaboration with Merrell, is a core influence to the season. Stylistically, the collection is the blend of these worlds while conceptually thinking relative to present day. Summary: Vintage Ivy League, 60’s California climbing, foreign influence, exploration and enlightenment, transition to adult life, and critical thought process during a time which can best be described at the depths of uncertainty.

    This is a transition year. Everything is changing on all fronts. We predicted this, we knew it was coming in one form or another and we know this collection is vastly important for those in our community right now; today. It’s time to think critically.
